Picnics &Pimms&Knittwits

Pimms and Picnics....... is what's it all about when the first real rays of summer start hitting Blighty. The British down the gin-based drink by the gallon during the summer months.
If its just me and my beau, I usually like to pack real glasses in my vintage picnic basket, as I hate those white plastic disposable cups, everyone just bins at the end. They are always too thin and too ugly and of course, super wasteful.
For larger groups, I have recently discovered  the Coco&Bo clear plastic cocktail glasses, which not only look like the real thing, but also inject a little bit of glamour to any grass gathering. They are sturdy enough to be used and abused time and time again.
Coco & Bo specialise in fabulous disposable & reusable plastic cocktail glasses and cocktail accessories. If you need some short clear straws or floating mermaids, this is the place to go to.

Apart from the great selection of Martini, Mojito and other iconic cocktail glasses, they also do some fab cocktail food accessories - including their fabulous disposable snack wraps which I like to use to keep nachos and vegetable crisps in.
London Girl Pimms Recipe
It was a weekend of pimms and courgette cupcakes specially baked by a controversial Brit artist, who I greeted with "you look like that hooker in Taxi Driver" because she was looking really stylish in her denim hot pants and Lolita sunglasses. But because she is generation Y, she didn't get the style reference - which resulted in me having to dig myself out of the hole.

Of course, due to too much ingestion of Pimms in the sun, I managed to not only drop the plate with all of her delicately decorated Ghostbuster-esque greenish cupcakes - smashing them to bits, but also smear them all over my mate's shoe in the process, whilst flashing too much cleavage during the clean up.
So I spent my time apologising for calling her a hooker, apologising for ruining her cup cakes.. you get the picture.

What you will need:
  • Pimms
  • Gin
  • Branded lemonade
  • Mint
  • Cucumber (sliced diagonally)
  • Oranges
  • Apples
  • Limes
  • Strawberries
  • Blackberries or raspberries
  •  Ice
In a jug, add two slices of orange, lemon, apple, cucumber, blackberries/strawberries per person. Then add add five parts lemonade, two parts Pimms, one part gin. Add the mint (I usually put about handful of sprigs to make it really refreshing), and make sure to stir well, whilst adding ice. Squirt the juice of one lime quarter into the mix.

When serving from jug, always make sure to include some of the mint, a slice of cucumber and one other fruit in the glass, as well as ice cubes.
