If I could come back in the next life as something other than a Dutch rodent it would be as a ballerina, so imagine my delight when I came across my old ballet certificate which was signed by the great dame of ballet, Margot Fonteyn de Arias. Oh how precious.
I think that most girls start to develop a shoe fetish when they put on their first pair of ballet shoes. From the initial canvas pair with its naive tiny elastic band, to the light pink demi-pointe of the aspirational years to the heavily structured pointe which signified full feet maturity, from an early age we yearn to become a young lady so that we could get into a pair of glossy black stretched satin pointes. I did anyway.
My favourite ballet is Ondine, which was originally choreographed specially for Margot.
That is amazing! I'm not very knowledgeable about ballet, but even I have heard of Margot Fonteyn! What a special piece of paper.
