It's all about the signature scent dahling

PICTURE: Roja Dover Haute Parfumerie, Harrods

The saying goes that a signature scent is like an heirloom.
Smell is the most primitive human sense, the first to awaken and the last to leave us. But there is NOTHING primitive about Roja Dove’s Haute Parfumerie, located on the 5th Floor at Harrods. This is the most gorgeous boudoir-esque space I have come accross in a long time:  Think black lacquered + glistening Baccarat bottles +  the finest selection of scents = Pure Fantasy.
Here you will find the finest fragrances mankind has to offer, many of them exclusive to the Roja Dove Haute Parfurmerie, and some even rescued from oblivion at Roja’s request. Oh, what a man!

The famous Tabac Blond, by Caron - a fragrance my aunties always used to tell me about

Roja Dove is the most celebrated fragrance expert in the world, a maestro of fragrance, a  “Professeur des Parfums,” The one to Nose.
Like any true alchemist, Roja has devised his own set of elite fragrances, which can only be aquired if the former feels you have a true understanding of perfumery.

FIRST STEPS TO FINDING YOUR SIGNATURE SCENT
Who needs Mr Right, when Roja can guide you through a millennia’s worth of gorgeous scents, until he helps you locate THE ONE which makes your heart sing and captures your soul’s essence with the poetry of its base notes, top notes and heart notes.

Of course, this  bespoke service comes at a recession friendly £250 for a consultation with Roja, and £50 for a consultation with one of his experts. The fee is redeemable with any purchase though – so don’t be so quick to brush this olfactory adventure aside. I am smitten by the whole idea of finding The Scent, and have been for some time now. It’s akin to finding Mr Right - only in Roja Dove's perfume world, the concept of The One is not the stuff of fairytales.

And for all you gentlemen out there, this is the perfect Valentines Gift.

I spent a whole ten minutes in here on Tuesday before getting my Creme de La Mer facial – but I felt like I lost time somewhere, as if there was a decadence ley line running  through the place or something.

There were two perfumes I asked to smell:
Mona Di Orio - Nuit Noire (more about this soon)
Tom Ford,Private Blend - Neroli Portofino

The Tom Ford blend was intoxicating - especially the next day, when I smelt the perfume tab it was sprayed on. I am in love with this scent. And to think that these are not even the tip of the iceberg..... just melts my heart.
